BYU Football Hires AJ Steward As 10th Assistant Coach
Rice Running Back coach Steward by BYU.
Steward coached at Rice for four seasons.
BYU has officially finalized their 2018 football staff. Kalani Sitake and the BYU football program announced they have hired Rice running backs coach AJ Steward.
Steward coached at Rice from 2012-2017 where he was a graduate assistant in the 2012 & 2013 seasons. From 2014-2017 Steward was the running backs coach for the Owls.
Kalani Sitake and Jeff Grimes interviewed many candidates for the running backs coach position before hiring Steward.
Steward played college football at Kansas where he helped lead the Jayhawks to an appearance in the Orange Bowl.
Initial analysis of the Steward hiring: Steward’s is a very good recruiter who can give you additional ties to the state of Texas. Along with Steward, Ryan Pugh coached in Conference-USA and in the Lone Star state at UTSA. Also, Steward is used to recruiting skill players to a difficult academic institution. That’s a positive for BYU.
