BYU QB Tanner Mangum walking without boot as recovery from Achilles heel injury continues
Senior signal caller suffered Achilles injury last November
Could Tanner Mangum make a full recovery from his injury by fall camp?
BYU quarterback Tanner Mangum suffered a non-contact Achilles injury last November against Fresno State. At that moment, many surrounding BYU football wondered if we had just seen Mangum, the former four-star recruit, take his last snap as a Cougar.
Two months have passed since Mangum’s injury and the senior signal caller is posting Instagram videos of himself walking around without a boot.
That’s significant progress in a short period of time. Now the question becomes, can Mangum be ready and cleared by team doctors to compete in fall camp?
That still seems like a bit of a stretch coming off a difficult injury like an Achilles heel problem. But it’s notable that he’s already ahead of his schedule in his recovery – BYU’s quarterback competition is as wide open as it has ever been in the last 40 years of Cougar football.
