Former BYU & NFL QB Jake Heaps on Preston Hadley: ‘Great Coach’
Hadley and Heaps were teammates at BYU in 2011
Jake Heaps sings the praises of the Preston Hadley hire.
Yesterday, the BYU football program announced that former BYU cornerback Preston Hadley would be returning to Provo as the Cougars new safeties coach.
Hadley played at BYU from 2011-2012 and was a two-year starter for the Cougars.
One of Hadley’s teammates on the 2011 football team was all-world quarterback recruit Jake Heaps.
Heaps transferred out of BYU after the 2011 season and went on to play for Charlie Weis and Kansas, then later transferred to Miami as a grad transfer to conclude his collegiate career.
Heaps has been in-and-out of the NFL with the hometown Seattle Seahawks since his college football career ended, but he chimed in on BYU’s hiring of Hadley and had high praise for his former teammate.
Even since he left BYU, Heaps has always spoken kindly in regards to his time in Provo, and this is just another example of that.
Last summer, Heaps spoke more in-depth about his time at BYU and why he decided to leave on ESPN 960’s Cougar Sports with Ben Criddle. Give it a listen.
