PROJECTED BYU LINEUP
THREE KEYS TO A BYU VICTORY
- Don’t “Tripp” Up
Pacific forward Jahlil Tripp had a huge game against BYU earlier this month in Stockton. Tripp scored 22 points in the 67-66 upset win over the Cougars. Tripp was able to get to the basket at will against the Cougars. He’s a throwback player in the sense that he doesn’t attempt many three-pointers, but he’s a very good ball handler who poses a problem for BYU’s lineup.
2. Bury the open three-pointer
Pacific is dead last (351st) in all of college basketball when it comes to attempting three-pointers. Three is always better than two. BYU can pull away from the Tigers in a hurry if they are knocking down their wide-open three-point attempts. In the previous meeting, BYU was 6-of-16 from deep. Look for TJ Haws to get cookin’ in this game.
3. Limit the turnovers
Last time around against Pacific, BYU committed 11 turnovers that led to 19 points for the Tigers. This is a confident team that knows they can beat BYU. They’ve been competitive with every team in the league not named Gonzaga thus far. They won’t be phased by BYU in the Marriott Center. Don’t cough up the ball to make their confidence soar to levels that you can not overcome.
