Video: Tanner McKee Announces Commitment to Stanford Cardinal
2018 QB recruit was a top priority for BYU early in the recruiting process.
No surprise, McKee headed to The Farm
Four-star quarterback recruit Tanner McKee announced his college decision on Wednesday in front of a nationally televised audience on ESPNU. McKee, who is LDS, announced that he would be signing with the Stanford Cardinal.
McKee’s letter of intent is now in with the Cardinal. This is a difficult loss for BYU because back in the summertime, the Cougars were the likely favorite to land California’s best quarterback prospect.
McKee will leave this June to serve an LDS mission before enrolling at Stanford in June of 2020.
Many have drawn comparisons to Taysom Hill, but one of the reasons Taysom ended up at BYU was because Stanford did not accept winter enrollees. Taysom did not want to sit out, so he opted to transfer to BYU who allowed him to matriculate in school in January of 2012. Just some food for thought, but it’s a difficult loss to lose for BYU to lose a kid who never competes on Sunday’s. If there’s anyone that you think BYU was going to land, you would have thought it would be a Tanner McKee.
