Former BYU QB Kody Wilstead Will Sign With Coffeyville Community College
Once a three-star QB prospect, Wilstead left BYU in spring of 2018.
Wilstead competed one calendar year at BYU
When spring football began back on March 5th, BYU had eight quarterbacks vying to become the guy atop on the depth chart in new offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes’ offense.
One of the guys to bounce early from that competition was redshirt freshman Kody Wilstead after the increased number of reps given to Joe Critchlow, Beau Hoge, true freshman Zach Wilson, and the injured Tanner Mangum competing in 7-on-7 work.
According to the ultimate BYU insider Dick Harmon of the Deseret News, Wilstead will be signing with Coffeyville Community College and competing at the Kansas junior college this fall.
Last November Wilstead was possibly going to play for the Cougars and have his redshirt pulled, but ultimately he never checked into a game as a BYU Cougar.
Had the chance to talk with Wilstead last November for ESPN 960 AM, and he’s a sharp kid who has a lot of talent. If he earns the opportunity to become the starter at Coffeyville C.C., would not be surprised to see him surface again at an FBS school in the future.
