Nick Emery Announces He Will Return To BYU Basketball Program For 2018-19 Season
BYU adds shooting guard Nick Emery.
Emery has two years remaining to play in collegiate career
The BYU Basketball program has been generating a lot of headlines this week, and this one might be the biggest.
Shooting guard Nick Emery has announced he will enroll and rejoin the BYU basketball team for next season.
This is a huge addition for BYU as they will look to Emery to be one of the top scorers on the offensive end with Elijah Bryant graduating and declaring for the NBA Draft and Yoeli Childs going through the NBA Draft process as well (Childs hasn’t hired an agent).
Emery withdrew from BYU last November one day before the first game of the regular season due to personal reasons. It was also reported by the Salt Lake Tribune that Emery was being investigated by the NCAA for improper benefits.
From Emery’s announcement on his personal Twitter:
I have never been happier and healthier. Little did I know that my small ounce of faith would become one of the biggest blessings of my life today! I may have been torn to pieces…but with those pieces, I’ve figured how to build an incredible puzzle! So a hater or believer .. I am finishing my college basketball career at BYU 🙏🙃 I owe it to my Teammates and Coaches! I owe it to Cougar Nation! I owe it to my friends and family who have been there every step of the way, and I owe it to myself. Go Cougs!
In Emery’s two seasons with the Cougars, he has played in 70 games, averaged 14.7 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and shoots 38% from the three-point line.
Emery will be a redshirt junior for the 2018-19 season and have two years to play two in his collegiate career.
