Baltimore Ravens Picked Up Former BYU DB Kai Nacua Off Waivers
Former BYU defensive back is entering his second season in the NFL.
Nacua wasn’t unemployed for long
Former BYU defensive back Kai Nacua was picked up off of waivers by the Baltimore Ravens. Yesterday, one of the Ravens AFC North rivals, the Cleveland Browns, waived Nacua to make room for former Wisconsin QB Joel Stave (faced BYU in 2013).
Nacua wasn’t unemployed for long as he goes to Baltimore where the Ravens have some connections to BYU in their organization with Bronson Kaufusi at defensive end and former Utah defensive back Eric Weddle who was coached by Kalani Sitake while he played for the Utes.
In Nacua’s rookie season with the winless Cleveland Browns, Nacua played in all 16 games and started in three. Recorded 11 tackles in his first season in the league.
Nacua was an undrafted prospect despite posting excellent numbers in his Pro Day back in 2017. Nacua was the third highest-rated safety based on his SPARQ score among all safeties in the 2017 NFL Draft with a score of 132.4.
Nacua ran 4.49 in the 40 yard-dash and posted a 39″ jump in the vertical.
