BYU Basketball: Cougar Cagers Schedule Two-Game Series With Nevada Wolf Pack
Nevada is projected to be a Top 25 team in 2018-19 season.
BYU will open the 2018-19 season in the biggest little city in the world
After three consecutive years of not being in the NCAA Tournament conversation, enough is enough for BYU hoops.
The BYU basketball program continues to load up the non-conference schedule for the 2018-19 season, and the latest addition to the slate is a team that was in the Sweet 16 last year in the NCAA Tournament.
According to Jon Rothstein from CBS Sports and Fanrag Sports, BYU will travel to Reno to take on the Nevada Wolfpack to open the 2018-19 season. The Wolfpack will then make a trip to Provo in the 2019-20 season.
The Wolfpack is projected to be a pre-season Top-25 team next season, and could even be a Top 10 squad if brothers Caleb and Cody Martin return to Reno after declaring for the NBA Draft. The two will participate in the NBA Draft Combine this week and neither has hired agents.
Nevada is a member of the Mountain West Conference and the last time the Cougars faced the Wolfpack was in 2011 as part of a holiday tournament in Chicago.
1995 was the last time BYU traveled to Reno for a game at the Lawlor Events Center. The Wolfpack won that game on a last-second buzzer beater from Nevada’s Brian Green to defeat BYU, 79-77.
The Cougars lead the all-time series against Nevada 13-6.
