BYU basketball’s schedule has been coming together for the last couple of weeks, and now we finally have a big piece of BYU basketball’s roster falling into place to give us a clearer picture of what the Cougars will trot out on the floor next season against this tough non-conference schedule.
BYU forward Yoeli Childs announced via his personal Twitter account that he will be returning to BYU for his junior season and withdrawing from the NBA Draft process.
These last two years I’ve spent at BYU have been incredible. The culture here is special and BYU has the best fans in the country. From teammates to coaches to fans it really feels like a big family.
After several weeks of prayer, talking with my family, those close to me, and NBA teams I feel the best decision for my future and my family is to return to BYU for my junior year!
Last season, Childs averaged 17.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, 1.8 blocks per game and he was named First-Team All-WCC.
Childs will be a pre-season favorite to be the West Coast Conference Player of the Year. He’s one of the most experienced players returning in the WCC next season and he gives BYU a significant boost that is looking to get back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015.
