Former BYU Quarterback John Beck Shared His Thoughts On Zach Wilson
True freshman QB Wilson trained with the former BYU great.
John Beck is third in career passing yards at BYU
John Beck is one of the all-time greats in BYU football history. Beck restored a winning culture in the program and brought championship football back to Provo. So when Beck has a take on a quarterback, you should listen. After all, Beck is a developing QBs at 3DQB along with guys like Tom House and Taylor Kelly.
Beck recently worked with BYU freshman quarterback Zach Wilson and Beck shared his thoughts on Wilson on ESPN 960 AM with Ben Criddle.
Here is what Beck had to say on the Cougars young signal caller:
“Zach is a great kid. Zach’s really talented and he cares. He’s confident. He’s going to make a lot of plays with his athleticism. He’s a kid who I seen a little bit on tape and what I saw on tape showed up when I watched him in person. That’s what you like to see from a quarterback. He looks really good on tape and then he’s performing well in front of my eyes.”
Wilson will be competing in fall camp with senior Tanner Mangum, junior Beau Hoge, sophomore Joe Critchlow, and fellow true freshman Jaren Hall who just returned home from a mission for the starting quarterback spot.
In spring practices, Wilson saw a significant number of first-team reps but in the spring scrimmage, Wilson was the third quarterback to take reps after Critchlow and then Hoge.
BYU football Fall Camp begins on August 3rd.
