Red-shirt sophomore, Cole McDonald, aka the nations second leading passer in touchdowns and yards is back from injury to play vs BYU this weekend.
An undisclosed injury prevented McDonald from playing last week in the Warriors win over Wyoming. But, this week he is expected to play, and, according to his statistics, he is good.
For reference, BYU has 1,836 total yards on offense in 2018. McDonald has 2100 total passing yards in 2018. He has had 24 touchdowns in six games of play.
This game is also an important one for BYU. The Cougars beat the Warriors by ten points last year (30-20).
With McDonald back in the drivers seat, this game can get competitive. This game means a lot for the players, but especially the head coach.
The head coach of Hawaii Nick Rolovich said,
“Last year I went and showed the guys all the important games like 89, 92, 2001 and all the ones that people talk about between BYU….and I’m not a big crier but…I had some tears in my eyes because its so important to this program, this game. I told them yesterday, most of you know how I feel bout this game and I’m not going to cry this year but I think they get it, they get it more than they did last year.”
His passion for this specific game is really strong. Let’s hope BYU is prepared.
