BYU couldn’t quite make it to then end zone as they lost to Northern Illinois University on Saturday.
BYU would only kick two field goals, on Saturday. But, they did only hold NIU to one touchdown in their loss to the Huskies.
This is the first meeting between NUI and BYU, and it didn’t go according to plan. Head Coach Kalani Sitake said his heart aches right now, but the team has to find a way to get over it and start preparing for Boise.
This is what Sitake had to say about the night.
“I was disappointed,” Sitake said. “Technique-wise we weren’t in the right spots and had some miscommunications.”
He goes on to say,
“I talked about establishing our identity and being physical, and we didn’t do enough of that. We need to get more production from our offense and be more aggressive — establish our identity. We’ve talked about using our identity and who we are, and it went away from that today.”
After the game there were a lot of questions about the new true freshman QB, but, Wilson, confident in his leadership abilities said,
“(We had a) lack of focus,” Wilson said. “I think the problem was the play clock was getting low on a couple of them and guys were getting a little antsy.”
Despite losing, Wilson had a highlight during the game as he jumped completely over a player, knocking another NIU player down, and then landing steady on his feet while trying to get the TD.
